Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, KZN
MENTAL HEALTHCARE HOSPITAL for adolescents and adults
Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg is a private Mental Healthcare hospital of the Life Path Health Group. Their experienced multi-disciplinary team consists of highly qualified medical professionals and 24-hour nursing staff. Medical aids and hospital plans cover inpatient mental health treatment for adults and adolescents. Established in 2023, Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital is fully registered with the Department of Health of South Africa.
The 36-bed mental health hospital was designed with the patient’s needs in mind, with comfortable rooms, modern equipment, and a team of experienced and qualified professionals committed to providing the highest standard of care.
Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital is named after co-founders Jack and Sue Bassage’s daughter, Catherine, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at an early age. For years, they walked the road of treating Catherine’s condition and became deeply involved in Pietermaritzburg’s mental health community. Over the years, they have recognised the shortcomings of the existing services in the area. Their dream of a new hospital became a reality. Life Path St Catherine’s Hospital now stands on the leafy suburban plot where the Bassage residence used to be.
